Let Us Tell the World

The 20th century is going and the 21st century will come soon. At this glorious moment of the turn of the century, we present to our dear readers the magazine "Who's Who of Chinese Origin Worldwide".

In the world of today, all kinds of "Who's Who Worldwide" are available in quite great numbers, but, much to our regret, among them not a kind is printed in Chinese, still less the kind which specially publishes the achievements of the celebrities of Chinese origin worldwide.

What we are now doing is to remedy this regret.

Utilizing the magazine we'd like to tell history and common people: In this world, there are a number of outstanding personages with black hair and yellow skin, and these "descedants of the dragon" have contributed to the civilization and progress of humanity with their great achievements made in various fields. They are not only the pride of the Chinese nation, but that of the whole world as well.

"Who's Who of Chinese Origin Worldwide" is such a magazine: It pays great attention to its readability besides its documentation. It will introduce to the readers the outstanding personages of Chinese origin worldwide in issues with the essays and the accompanying pictures, of whom 29 will be first introduced in this issue. Most of these outstanding personages are the intelligent and influential leading figures in the world of today, covering scientists, enterpreneurs, inventors, scholars, statesmen, writers, artists, social activists and leaders of the overseas Chinese. It is really a great honor of us to have so many top-notch figures "travel across oceans" and meet in our magazine.

Besides introducing the celebrities of Chinese origin, the magazine also start a "special column" for the publication of the essays and interviews of the VIPs of all countries about China and the Chinese people. This is "a journal within a journal", which the readers can read as part of notations or appendices to the Who's Who of Chinese origin. In the "special column" of this issue, we publish the interviews and essays of ex-President of the United States George Bush, ex-Secretary of State of the United States Henry Kissinger, President of Anstrian Federal Parliament Alfred Gerstl and Honorary Chairnian of Anstrian and Chinese Friendship Association Dr.Helmut Sohmen. We hope the readers might as well read them.

As you know, it is not an easy thing to run a Chinese magazine abroad. Such is the case with this magazine. Luckily we have got the great help from a great many warmhearted old and new friends. Not only have the eminent persons introduced in this issue provided us with written information and avalable pictures personally despite their tight schedule, but numerous acquainted and unacquainted writers, journalists and photographers were busy rushing about all over the world for our magazine. They should be awarded the first prizes for their meritorious services in the successful publication of the magazine.

The Chinese nation is a great nation. Going through all hardships and various vicissitudes of life, the nation has now been becoming prosperous and powerful day by day. In the "Henry Kissinger's Talk about China" published in this issue, this ex-Secretary of State of the United States said, "China will become an important and powerful country worldwide in the 2lst century." His prediction clearly shows that China and the Chinese people are the focuses of world attention.

Facing the upcoming 21st century, we wish all the people of Chinese origin rising in great vigor, where they live, either on the Chinese land of nine million and six hundred thousand square kilometers or abroad far away from their native land.
